Current Members
In accordance with Tennessee Code Annotated § 13-4-101, the City has established a Municipal Planning Commission to guide and oversee planning activities.
The Planning Commission is composed of seven (7) members, including:
- The Mayor, or a designee appointed by the Mayor
- One (1) member of the City Council, selected by the Council
- Five (5) members appointed by the Mayor
All members serve without compensation.
The five mayoral appointees serve staggered three-year terms to ensure continuity, with initial appointments structured so that terms expire on a rotating basis each year. The Mayor and City Council representative serve a term concurrent with their elected office. The Mayor may appoint a representative to serve as his/her representative on the Planning Commission.
In the event of a vacancy among the appointed members, the Mayor will appoint a replacement to serve the remainder of the unexpired term. The Mayor also retains the authority to remove appointed members at his/her discretion.
