Rules & Policies

  • All players must check in at pro shop before teeing off
  • All players must have a ticket or annual pass card before teeing off.
  • No more than five players allowed in a playing group.
  • All groups must allow faster players to play through.
  • All players must have a bag and set of clubs.
  • If 90 degree rule is in effect, please keep carts behind “no cart signs”, and return to path. If 90 degree rule is not in effect, carts must stay on cart path.
  • Players under 16 cannot drive a recreation center golf cart.
  • Please repair all ball marks and divots.
  • No profanity or disrespectful behavior is allowed.
  • Teeing order is first come, first serve. If any group is not ready to tee off, they must allow players behind them through.
  • Golf carts must be driven properly, or returned to the pro shop.
  • Shirts must be worn at all times.
  • Softspike golf shoes or tennis shoes only.
  • No alcoholic beverages allowed

History

The Ewell Butler Golf Course opened in 1952. The club started out with 46 members. Membership costs were $10 per person. The first Marshall County Open was held at the Ewell Butler Golf Course in 1952. Bob Eaves won the Marshall County Open in 1958, beating out D.B. Minor and Jeff Fields. Today, the Ewell Butler Golf Course has over 150 members with 103 personal cart storage spaces. As of 2015, Andy Cook holds the 9 hole course record with a 28. The record was previously held by Randy Woodward and Al Vore.
