Planning & Codes

The Planning and Codes Department administers the municipal code, stormwater, planning, and zoning for the City. Municipal Codes ensures properties are maintained in compliance with adopted ordinances to protect public health and safety. Stormwater manages drainage infrastructure and water quality requirements to reduce flooding and protect local waterways. Planning guides long-range growth and development to support a sustainable and well-designed community. Zoning regulates land use and development standards to promote orderly growth and compatible neighborhoods.

Municipal Codes

Municipal Codes is responsible for enforcing the City’s adopted codes and ordinances to ensure properties are safe, healthy, and in compliance with local regulations. This includes oversight of property maintenance standards, signage regulations, and other municipal requirements. The department works with residents, businesses, and property owners to address violations, promote voluntary compliance, and maintain community standards. Through fair and consistent enforcement, Municipal Codes help protect public safety, preserve property values, and support a clean and well-maintained city.

Stormwater

Stormwater works to protect our community from flooding, reduce erosion, and safeguard local streams and rivers. We maintain the City’s storm drainage system—including inlets, pipes, ditches, and detention ponds—while ensuring new development meets stormwater and water quality standards. Our team implements state and federal environmental requirements, responds to drainage concerns, and provides public education to help keep pollutants out of our waterways. Through proactive planning, maintenance, and community partnership, we help keep our city safe, resilient, and environmentally responsible.
