Yard Sale Guidelines
The City of Lewisburg allows residents to hold yard sales, but all sales must follow the guidelines below.
Registration Required
A yard sale registration is required for each sale event.
You may register:

- By using the form below
Sale Limits
- Maximum of 4 yard sales per location, residence, or household per calendar year
- Each sale may last no more than 3 consecutive days
Hours of Operation
Yard sales may only operate between:
- 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Traffic & Safety
The property owner, tenant, or permit holder is responsible for:
- Maintaining order during the sale
- Preventing traffic congestion
- Ensuring roads remain accessible for public and emergency vehicles
Inclement Weather
If bad weather prevents the sale from occurring or causes it to end early on the first day, the yard sale may be conducted within 30 days.
Yard Sale Sign Rules
Signs Allowed
- Up to 2 signs on the sale property
- Maximum size: 4 square feet each
Directional Signs
- Up to 2 directional signs
- Maximum size: 2 square feet each
- Permission is required from the property owner where the sign is placed
Prohibited Sign Locations
Signs are not allowed:
- On utility poles
- On highway or street signs
- On traffic signals
- In streets, sidewalks, alleys, or public rights-of-way
Time Limits for Signs
- Signs may only be displayed 2 days before the sale begins
- All signs must be removed at the end of each sale day
Removed or Confiscated Signs
May be recovered at the Planning & Codes Office at 505 N Ellington Parkway.
Violations & Penalties
Violations of the yard sale ordinance may result in fines of up to:
- $75 per offense
