Forrest High School students took tours of three Lewisburg Manufacturers today as part of a ongoing, year-long, countywide Career and Technical Education program where students and teachers take tours of businesses and industries and businesses and industries come into the schools, starting as young as 3rd grade, to teach students throughout the county about the companies, careers at each and the various pathways to achieve those careers - all in Marshall County, Tennessee.
Each week, one or more industries come into the schools to teach elementary and middle school grades about their companies and careers, soft skills and educational and training programs required to work at their businesses. Tours begin at Middle School with every freshmen touring one manufacturer, every sophomore touring another manufacturer and every junior touring yet another local manufacturer.
As seniors, the students are provided with a lunch and learn at MCHS and a job fair for Seniors, that includes anyone from age 16-24 looking for a full-time or part-time job, is held near the end of the school year at Spot Lowe Technology Center in Lewisburg.
The 6th graders across the county also participate in an Interview and Resume` contest where HR Managers from local industries grade their resume`s and conduct interviews with every 6th grader. The winners are given "jobs" with each company along with prizes.
Combined, these programs insure that every students in Marshall County, Tennessee is aware of the career opportunities available to them here, the wages and benefits available and the educational and training levels required to enter those careers - all in Marshall County, Tennessee.
