The Yankee Lady WWII Bomber in Lewisburg
Sunday, September 29, 2019, 10:00am - 04:00pm
Location Ellington Airport - 1877 Franklin Pike, Lewisburg, TN 37091
History is coming to the Lewisburg Aiport. The Yankee Lady is part of the Flying Fortress, a symbol of World War II air supremacy. The Yankee Lady is a pristine B-17 that has been painstakingly restored and is one of the few heavy bombers of its type that is still flying and on which you can have an Air Adventure ride.
Your flight experience begins with a briefing and then you take your station. The authenticity of this craft is spellbinding. After taxiing and takeoff, you will have 25 minutes in the air. Upon reaching a cruising speed of 150mph at an altitude of 1200 feet you are able to move to other positions in the Fort, including the Plexiglas nose, flight deck, bomb bay, radio room and waist gunnery section.
As your mission ends you’ll better know the courage of the sky men who flew vast armadas of these majestic aircraft, who commanded the clouds and rode on thunder, and you too will step off exclaiming "that was amazing!"
Flights will be available to 12 passengers at a time. If you don't want to fly, you still will be able to tour this historical aircraft. Flights can be purchased at the event.
We will also have food trucks and musical entertainment as well. Come see history up close.
